Marie Cardenas Avey, age 90, born September 12, 1923 in Doloros, Texas, passed away on December 4, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Avey; son, Carl Sonny Avey; granddaughter, Robyn Chovanetz; grandson, Chad Chovanetz; Nicole Chovanetz; and great-grandson, Aaron Chovanetz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3601 Milam St.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
